Typed letter signed: "John Roland" in black ink. 1 page, 8½x7½. In full: "Dear Mr. Palmer, Thank you for considering me worthy enough to join your collection of honorable men. It is indeed an honor. Channel Five News". John Roland (b. 1941) is a former news presenter and reporter whose broadcasting career began in the 1960s. One of his first jobs was with Fox's KTTV Los Angeles station where he covered the Robert F. Kennedy assassination and the Charles Manson trial before switching over their sister station, WNYW in New York City in 1969, where he would remain as a presenter and anchorman for the rest of his career. Furthermore, Roland famously fought off three robbers when they attacked a restaurant he was eating at with his girlfriend in 1983. He has also dipped his toe in acting, appearing as a television anchor for in movies such as Hero at Large (1980), Eyewitness (1981) and The Object of My Affection (1998). Irregularly cut. Toned. Corners rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
