JOHN RORKE
Signed sentiment of the music hall performer whose early films
highlighted the disappearing genre
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Always/John Rorke", 3x1½ affixed
to a 3¼x2 sheet. English music hall comedian John Rorke (1892-1957)
appeared in early films which highlighted stars of the disappearing
genre. Stars on Parade (1936) was basically a variety show
with no plot, a revue featuring major performers of the genre. Variety
Jubilee (1943) followed three generations of a music hall family from
the 1890s to World War II, and also included many veteran performers. He played
supporting roles in films and TV until shortly before his death. Heavily soiled.
Lightly toned. Sheet irregularly cut. Paper remnants on left edge of signature.
Corners slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
