John Sargent Pillsbury (1828-1901) was a New Hampshire born businessman and banker who, along with his nephew, Charles Alfred Pillsbury, the son of Pillsbury's brother, George, founded the Pillsbury flour milling company in 1872. The company was destined to grow into the largest flour producer in the world, and then into a multinational food conglomerate owning such brand names as Burger King and Green Giant. Pillsbury also served several terms in the Minnesota state senate as a Republican before becoming the state's Governor (1876-1882). Lightly soiled. Signature slightly smudged. ½x¼-inch missing from lower left corner. Thinning of paper from previous mounting at two places at blank lower area. Pencil notation (unknown hand) at lower right. Overall, fine condition.
