One of the original "cyberpunk" authors, John Shirley(b. 1953) has published numerous polemical essays and seminal works of cyberpunk, including a number of horror novels, science fiction novels, short cyberpunk short stories and song lyrics. His book, Heatseeker, was chosen by the Locus Reader's poll as one of the best short story collections of 1989. Shirley has also played in punk-rock bands, such as Sado-Nation, and is the lead singer and lyricist for The Panther Moderns, a San Francisco-based rock band. Slightly rippled.
