Carbon DS: "John Steinbeck", 1 page, 8½x11. No place, 1961 July 11. In part: "For good and valuable consideration received, John Steinbeck (hereinafter called the 'Licensor') hereby grants to B & R Enterprises, Inc. (hereinafter called the 'Licensee') the sole and exclusive license to cause to be created, and to produce and present, a dramatico-musical work based upon the literary property written by the Licensor entitled 'THE SHORT REIGN OF PIPPIN IV' (hereinafter called the 'Literary Property'). This license shall embrace all rights in the Literary Property, including but not limited to the dramatic stage, motion picture, radio and television rights of the Literary Property…." Novelist John Steinbeck (1902-1968), who was noted for his portrayals of hard-working people and social themes, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962. The works of the famed novelist, include Tortilla Flat (1935), Of Mice and Men (1937), The Grapes of Wrath (1939; Pulitzer Prize, 1940), Cannery Row (© 1937, published in 1945) and East of Eden (1952). Staple and file holes at upper blank margin. Slightly creased. Fine condition.
