On United States Senate letterhead to Mr. George Bookman, Assistant Vice President, New York Stock Exchange, Inc., Department of Public Information - Press Relations, New York, New York. In full: "Thank you for your letter of November 15. I appreciate your sending me the copy of the press release on negotiations on increasing U.S.-U.S.S.R. trade. I welcome this additional trade, as I feel that all efforts to better relations between our two nations will be valuable. Please continue to keep me informed. Sincerely". Tunney had attended the Academy of International Law at The Hague, Netherlands in 1957, and he had taught business law at the University of California at Riverside from 1961-1962. John Varick Tunney (born in 1934) was a Democratic U.S. Senator from California from 1971-1977. A former attorney in both the U.S. Air Force and in private practice, Tunney had previously served as a U.S. Representative from California from 1965-1971. Slightly creased with folds, not at signature. Recipient's address crossed out in pencil, "EM" written (unknown hand) at upper right margin. Fine condition.
