Typed Note signed in ink: "John W. Snyder", 5x3 card printed
with his title of Secretary of the Treasury. No place, 1947 May 20. To
"Dear Mr. Espy", in full: "I have your recent request for my
autograph, and am pleased to affix my signature below. Sincerely". From the
1930s through World War II, John W. Snyder (1895-1985) served the US government
as National Bank Receiver, Federal Loan Administrator, and Director of War
Mobilization and Reconversion. In 1946, President Truman, who had served with
Snyder in World War I, named him Secretary of the Treasury, a post he held until
1953. Toned and soiled. Corners lightly creased. Light mounting residue on
verso. Lightly creased near top left corner. Otherwise fine condition.
