CITY OKLAHOMA: Take the worthwhile lessons you are learning now into real life
and make the nation even better than it is to-day. Take matters seriously and
find an opportunity not only to be thoroughly educated but to be useful citizens
of the future". John W. Weeks (1860-1926) made a fortune in
investment banking, after which he turned to politics. A Republican, he
served as Alderman and then Mayor of Newton, Massachusetts, US Representative
(1905-1913) and US Senator (1913-1919). Defeated for re-election in 1918, he
helped Warren Harding secure the Presidential nomination two years later. He
proved a capable and hardworking Secretary of War under Presidents Harding
and Coolidge (1921-1925) until a stroke compelled his resignation. Normal
mailing folds. Light surface creases. Corners slightly worn and creased. Heavily
toned. Small tear to upper left edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
