Basketball signed: "John Wooden", "Bill Walton". Rawlings "NCAA Final Four" basketball, signed in black felt tip on adjacent panels. Enshrined twice in the Basketball Hall of Fame as a player (1961) and Coach (1973), JOHN WOODEN (1910-2010), captained Purdue to a national championship in 1932. His greatest success came as Coach of the UCLA Bruins (1948-1975). He had four undefeated (30-0) teams and ten NCAA national championships, including seven in a row (1966-1973). Wooden' career record as a head coach was 885-203, including 620-147. Many future NBA stars, including Kareem Abdul-Jabaar (still Lou Alcindor in his UCLA days) and Marquess Johnson praise Wooden for the life lessons, as well as basketball lessons, he taught. In retirement Wooden was a sought after motivational speaker, extolling his "Pyramid of Success." BILL WALTON (b. 1952) was MVP of the NCAA tournament in 1972 and 1973, leading coach Wooden's Bruins to back to back NCAA championships in those years. He set collegiate records for shooting percentage while being named three years running (1972-1974) as the "Sporting News" NCAA player of the year. He was playoff MVP of the 1977 NBA championship series, won by his Portland Trailblazers. And was on another championship team, the 1986 Boston Celtics. The NBA's Most Valuable Player in 1978, he entered the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. A legendary free spirit and humanitarian, Walton has also been an Emmy-winning sportscaster and appeared in several films. Fine condition.
