JOHNNIE DAVIS
Vintage photo, a smiling image inscribed in person to collector Saul
Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To
Saul/Sincerely/Johnnie/Davis". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso
dates signature: September 22, 1938. Johnnie "Scat" Davis (1910-1983)
played trumpet and sang with several orchestras, notably Fred Waring's. He
introduced the popular Johnny Mercer song "Hooray for Hollywood" in the film
Hollywood Hotel (1937), and went on to appear in 15 movies, including
Cowboy from Brooklyn (1938). Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York
business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making
friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album

in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges. Ink
stamp on verso. Otherwise, Fine condition.
