Inscribed photograph signed: "Johnny Carpenter" in blue ink.
Color, 4x6. Johnny Carpenter (1914-2003) was an American actor,
screenwriter and producer, best known for his work in Westerns alongside Edward
D. Wood, Jr. Joining Hollywood in the mid-1940s, Capenter mostly did bit parts
in B-Westerns, later earning starring roles in films such as Border
Outlaws (1950) and Cattle Queen (1951). He switched to
producing, making films such as Son of the Renegade (1953),
The Lawless Rider (1954), Outlaw Treasure (1955) and
I Killed Bill Hickok (1956). With the drying-up of western film
work, Carpenter faded from Hollywood, his last acting role being Tomboy
and the Champ (1961). He would open a ranch titled "Heaven on Earth",
which was available to let handicapped children come and spend the day riding
horses and enjoying the mock western town on his ranch. Lightly soiled on verso.
