Cash also had a TV show (1969-1971), appeared in several films and earned ten Grammy awards between 1967 and 2000. In 1980, he became the youngest ever inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame. As a child, JUNE CARTER CASH (1929-2003, born Valerie June Carter in Maces Springs, Virginia) was part of the Carter Family music group, regulars at the Grand Ole Opry. She met country music superstar Johnny Cash in 1961, accepting his on-stage marriage proposal in 1968. An accomplished songwriter, she penned several of Johnny Cash's biggest hits, including Jackson, Ring of Fire and If I Were a Carpenter.
