Cover for 1961's Now Here's Johnny Cash, signed on the front in blue ink by Grammy-winning country legend Johnny Cash
Record album cover signed "Johnny Cash" in blue ink. B/w, 12x12. Cover for Now Here's Johnny Cash by Cash. Cash left Sun Records in 1958 for greener pastures at Columbia. Sun released Now Here's Johnny Cash - a tacked-together collection of singles, retreads and unreleased songs - in 1961 in an attempt to cash in on an absent Cash's popularity. One song on this album, Down the Street to 301, cracked the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960. JOHNNY CASH (1932-2003, born John R. Cash in Kingsland, Arkansas) had big country/pop crossover hits in the 1950s, including I Walk the Line (1956) and Ballad of a Teenage Queen (1958). After recovering from amphetamine abuse problems with the help of his wife June Carter Cash, he bounced back with hits including Ring of Fire (1963), Folsom Prison Blues, (1969) and A Boy Named Sue (1970). Cash also had a TV show (1969-1971), appeared in several films and earned ten Grammy awards between 1967 and 2000. In 1980, he became the youngest ever inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He married fellow country singer June Carter Cash in 1968, and they remained married until June's death in 2003. John outlived her by less than four months. Their love story was the subject of the 2005 biopic Walk the Line. Lightly toned, soiled, scuffed and creased. Light separation in bottom right corner along edge. Edges are lightly chipped and torn. Light scratch on verso. Light impression from record. Corners are lightly worn and rounded. Otherwise in fine condition.
