JOHNNY COONEY
The MLB outfielder signs his name in black ink
Signature: "Johnny Cooney" in black ink. 5x3 card. Johnny Cooney (1901-1986) was a MLB outfielder who played twenty seasons for the Boston Braves (1921-1930, 1938-1942), the Brooklyn Dodgers (1935-1937, 1943-1944), and the New York Yankees (1944). He had a career batting average of .286 with two home runs and 219 RBIs. According to Hank Greenburg's biographer, before Greenburg's very first spring training exhibition game in 1930, Cooney, who was pitching, felt sympathy toward the 19-year-old and took him aside before the game and promised to throw him a pitch he could hit, and the future Hall of Fame slugger hit a homer over the fence. Cooney served as manager of the Boston Braves in 1949. Toned. Corners rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
