JOHNNY DAMON
Yankees home jersey, signed by him in his number on the back
Jersey signed: "Johnny Damon/18". New York Yankees home jersey bearing his name and
number, signed in the first digit of his "18" on the back. Johnny Damon (born in 1973)
played center field for the Boston Red Sox from 2002-2005. A key player in the team's
defeat of the Yankees in the 2004 World Series, Damon shocked and dismayed Boston fans
when he signed a four-year, $52 million contract with the rival Yankees on December 20,
2005. Damon, who previously played with the Kansas City Royals (1995-2000) and the
Oakland Athletics (2001), has played in two All-Star games (2002, 2005) and, since the
2000 season, he ranks third among active major league players in runs (589) and seventh
for hits (912) and stolen bases (153). In 2000, he led the American League in runs (136)
and stolen bases (46), and Damon led the league in triples (11) in 2002. Known for his
long hair and beard while playing for the Red Sox, Damon had both cut two days after signing
with the Yankees, who have a strict dress code. When the Yankees won the 2009 World
Series, Damon joined Babe Ruth (and the much-graded Eric Hinske) as the only players
to have won a World Series with both the Red Sox and Yankees. Damon joined the Detroit
Tigers as a free agent in 2010. With PSA/DNA Certificate of Authenticity card and sticker
