Picture post card signed: "To Larry/thanks for/the/interest/Johnny Paris/Sax", in blue ink, B/w 4x5¾. Captioned at bottom margin. Johnny Paris (1940-2006) was a saxophone player and lead of the band Johnny and the Hurricanes. The band become popular for their covers of older songs set with a new rock and roll beat, appealing to listeners by using a familiar tune that still felt safe. Such songs include "Red River Rock" (originally "Red River Valley"), "Reveille Rock" (originally "Reveille"), and "Beatnik Fly" (originally "Blue Tail Fly"). They had a short stint of popularity in America and Europe, eventually traveling overseas to perform in club in Hamburg, Germany, where the then-unknown Beatles served as the opening act.
