(1916-2004) was an American baseball player who is better known for his job
as a manager in the minor leagues. With the New York Yankees in 1941
batting leadoff, he made 568 plate appearances, helping the team win the 1941
World Series over the Brooklyn Dodgers. After serving in the Army during
WWII, Sturm tried to make a comeback in 1946, eventually becoming a
player-manager that same year. He served in this position with a variety of
teams until 1950, later becoming a scout.Sturm was Mickey Mantle's final
minor league manager before he began his Hall of Fame career with the Yankees.Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
