delightful evening. From the moment I walked in you treated me like an old
friend, which put me completely at ease. I had a wonderful time. In fact, your
dinner party was the highlight of my social season. True, I almost never go out.
(Insert Rimshot) but if I did I'm sure I could not encounter two more gracious
hostesses. I'm enclosing some books for you both (and one for Nanette). Please
make a list of people you would like to give inscribed books and I'll send them
along. I have lots of books, so don't be shy. I'm also enclosing, FYD (For Your
Delectation), the brief Happy Motoring! proposal I told you about, along with
the sidebar from The Rich Are Different to which Phyllis made such a brilliant
contribution. Thank you again for your hospitality. I hope to see you both again
soon. P.S. We were talking about those French candies and couldn't remember the
name. I checked Larousse Gastronomique and here are a few possibilitities:
