of Demme, color 6¼x4¾, with earphones on, watching a scene with Anthony Hopkins as
Hannibal Lecter on a small television set, both photographs affixed to a light card stock,

producer and screenwriter. He began his career in films working for producer Roger
Corman, producing and co-writing the films Angels Hard as They Come (1971) and The Hot
Box (1972). He began directing for Corman's New World Pictures creating three films for
the studio Caged Heat (1974), Crazy Mama (1975) and Fighting Mad (1976). In 1977
Demme directed a comedy Handle with Care for Paramount pictures which was well reviewed
but did poorly at box offices. Swing Shift was intended to be a commercial vehicle for
Demme, starring Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. However issues in production as well as
differing visions between Demme and Hawn resulted in Demme renouncing the film and its
1984 release did little for the director's commercial profitability. Over the next few years he
directed comedies before directing his cinematic masterpiece The Silence of the Lambs
(1991). Starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, the film is only one of three to ever
win an Academy Award in all of the major categories (Best Picture, Best Director, Best
Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Actress). His next feature film was the drama Philadelphia
(1993) starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington which dealt with the topics of
HIV/AIDS, homosexuality and homophobia. Some of his other films include The Truth
About Charlie (2002), The Manchurian Candidate (2004) and Rachel Getting Married
(2008). Fine condition.
