black ink
Christmas/holiday card signed: "Jose Llado" in black ink. 1
page, 6¾x8¾ folded. Depicts black and white nativity scene on front and
inscription inside reading (roughly translated from Spanish): "The Spanish
Ambassador and Mrs. Llado wish you a Happy [Easter] and a Happy New Year".
Jose Llado Fernandez-Urrutia (b. 1934) was a Spanish businessman and
politician. The son of the President of Bank Urquijo, and grandson of a
republican deputy, Llado himself earned a Doctorate in Chemical Sciences and
served as a member of the American Chemical Society before serving as President
of the Spanish National Research Council. He would move on to politics,
working as the Minister of Commerce (1976), Minister of Transport and
Communications (1977), and in 1979 as the Ambassador of Spain to the United
States. Since then he has worked as an art patron, serving as President of
the Royal Patrongage of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, as well
as President of the Arts Award of the Prince of Asturias and the Xavier Zubiri
Foundation. Toned. Light surface creases. Corners rounded. Card stapled in top
right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
