Joseph Wambaugh signs and dated an autograph note to fan on a card
advertising twelve of his books in 1980.
Autograph Note signed: "2 Apr 1980/Dear Jackson Colt,/All best
wishes,/Joseph Wambaugh", 6¼x2 card. Joseph Wambaugh, Jr. (born in 1937) had
been with the Los Angeles Police Department for ten years before
publishing his first novel, The New Centurions (1971). Credited with
transforming the sub-genre of the police novel into serious literature, his
books also include The Blue Knight (1972), The Onion Field (1973)
and The Choirboys (1975), and his work on the Police Story
television series in the 1970s set standards of realism, dialogue and character
development for subsequent writers of police dramas. Fold crease not near
signature. Fine condition.
