Marble.
Photograph signed: "All best/Joseph Wambaugh/1983". B/w, 10x8. Captioned, in part:
"Former cop turned filmmaker, Joseph Wambaugh is shown relaxing on the set during the
recent filming of 'The Black Marble'…." From a screenplay by Wambaugh, The Black
Marble is about two detectives who investigate the kidnapping of a show dog. Joseph
Wambaugh, Jr. (1937-2025) had been with the Los Angeles Police Department for ten
years before publishing his first novel, The New Centurions (1971). Credited with
transforming the sub-genre of the police novel into serious literature, his books also
include The Blue Knight (1972), The Onion Field (1973) and The Choirboys (1975), and his
work on the Police Story television series in the 1970s set standards of realism,
dialogue and character development for subsequent writers of police dramas. Fine
condition.
