In full: "I am in receipt of your letter, and am very much gratified to know that you appreciate so highly what I said at Pittsburgh. I note your statement that your Club intends publishing the proceedings of its dinner. I accordingly, in order that it may be correctly published, enclose you herewith a copy of my speech [not included] as it has since been republished and distributed to some extent over our State by our Executive Committee". A Civil War veteran, lawyer and state judge, Foraker (1846-1917) was Governor of Ohio (1886-1890) and U.S. Senator (1897-1909). He unsuccessfully sought the Republican Presidential nomination in 1908. Binder holes on left. Lightly creased, with some browning along left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
