JOSEPH BULOFFThe Russian character actor signs a magazine page from The Players Directory. Very rare! Directory Photo signed: "Joseph Buloff" in black ink, b/w, 7¼x11. Joseph Buloff (1899-1985), born in Russia, started his American acting career in the 1930s in shorts and on Broadway. After appearing on stage in Call Me Ziggy (1937), The Man from Cairo (1938), and Morning Star (1940), Buloff made his feature film debut in Let's Make Music (1941). His later films include The Loves of Carmen (1948), Silk Stockings (1957), and the Oscar-winning Paul Newman classic Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956). Loved for his dancing and singing, Buloff originated the role of Persian Peddler Ali Hakim in the Original Broadway cast of Oklahoma!.In 1974, Buloff won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Performance in Hard to Be a Jew. He also starred in The Wall (1960-1961) and The Price (1979). Lightly creased and toned. Pencil note in an unknown hand on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
