Autograph sentiment signed: "Yours very truly/Joseph C.
Lincoln", 5x3½. April 13, 1938. Joseph C. Lincoln (1870-1944) was an
American author, writing poems, novels, and short stories. He is most famous
for his work being set in a fictionalized Cape Cod, and for his writing being
mostly "feel-good" pieces, designed to make readers accepting of themselves and
those around them. Lincoln's work also helped to alleviate the stress and
change of a rapidly modernizing America by allowing them an idealized insight
into old traditions and standards of early America. Several of his stories
have been adapted into films, from as early as 1913 with Tea and Toast
(his novel The Postmaster), 1925 with Rugged Water, and
as recently as 2008 with The Golden Boys (his novel Cap'N
Eri). Corners slightly worn. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine
condition.
