Signature: "Joseph E. Murray M.D.", 5x3 index card. Dr.
Joseph E. Murray (1919-2012), performed the world's first successful
organ transplant -- a kidney from one identical twin to another on Dec. 23,
1954 and followed this by the first allograft in 1959 and in 1962, the first
cadaveric renal transplant. Dr. Murray was awarded the Nobel Prize for
Physiology or Medicine - 1990. He retired as professor of Surgery Emeritus
in 1986 from Harvard Medical School. Pencil note (unknown hand) at lower left.
