In full: "I have received your letter and copy of the armorial bearings at this place, where I am just now staying. The drawing is quite in time for my purpose & I enclose a cheque for £2..2..0." Joseph Lister was the founder of antiseptic surgery. He introduced carbolic acid as an antiseptic in 1865 and in 1877, demonstrated conclusively that his method of antisepsis reduced danger to life from surgery. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
