Actor Joseph Mascolo (1929-2016) appeared in minor roles in the 1960's and 1970's on several television series, not receiving much notice until appearing in the recurring role of Mayor Pete Santori on the crime drama Bronk (1975). This was soon followed after by a larger role in the Jaws sequel, Jaws 2 (1978). However, it was in daytime soaps that Mascolo really shined, appearing as villainous characters like Nicholas Van Buren in General Hopsital (1989), Massimo Marone IV in The Bold and the Beautiful (2001-2006), and most famously Stefano DiMera in Days of Our Lives (1982-2014).
