Typed letter signed: "Joseph McGlinn" in brown ink. 8½x11.
January 9, 1959, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on letterhead of the Archbishop's
House, to "Dear Doctor Greenway". In full: "Cardinal O'Hara has
asked me to return the photograph which you sent to him. I am sorry that I must
inform you that His Eminence makes an irrevocable practice of refusing his
autograph to anyone who seeks it. I am only sorry that your own good self must
be deprived. Asking God to fill your New Year with an abundance of graces and
blessings, I am, Sincerely yours". Joseph McGlinn was a Catholic
Monsignor in Philadelphia and the Secretary to Archbishop John Francis
O'Hara, who became a Cardinal in 1958. Toned. Corners rounded. Horizontal
crease in center. Small smudge near letterhead. Otherwise, fine
condition.
