Signature of the New York Congressman
Signature: "Cong. J. P. Addabbo/ 7th d.St. NYC". 3½x2. Joseph Patrick Addabbo (1925-1986) was a New York City politician who served as a Democratic U. S. Representative from 1961 until his death in 1986. Representing New York City's 7th District, Addabbo was a Queens native who earned a degree at St. John's Law School, practicing law until he was elected in 1960. In office he also served as the Chairman of the United States House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. He is most known for fervently opposing President Reagan's excessive military spending increases. His efforts were largely unsuccessful; however, Addabbo did achieve to eliminate funding for MX and Pershing missiles in 1982. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
