French Canadian opera bass Joseph Rouleau (b. 1929), best known for his
Italian and French repertoire, also performs in the German and Russia opera
canon. After debuting in New Orleans in 1956 and Montreal the following year, he
spent two decades (1957-1977) on London stages, in over 40 productions
there. In 1987, he retired from the opera stage but continued in concerts
and recitals. He co-founded an opera workshop at the University of Quebec,
Montreal. Pencil note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
