1957-68", 3x2. Joseph Sill Clark, Jr. (1901-1990), decorated by both
the US and Britain for his service in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War
II, practiced law before winning the office of City Comptroller and then
becoming Mayor of Philadelphia (1952-1956), having unseated an entrenched
Republican machine. A liberal Democrat, he served two terms in the US Senate
(1957-1969). The United World Federalists, re-named the World
Federalist Association in 1973, is an American advocacy group participating in
the world federalist movement. Its goals are universal disarmament
enforceable by law, and creation of world federal institutions which are
democratic, and respectful of the cultural autonomy of all nations. Fine
