Four band members sign a publicity photograph of the band in felt tip
Photograph signed: "Neal Schon" "Steve Smith", "Jonathan Cain" and "Ross Valory", Color 8x10. The American rock band Journey was formed in 1973 in San Francisco, California by Neal Schon (Lead Guitar), Ross Valory (Bass), Gregg Rolie (Keyboard, Vocals), George Tickner (Rhythm Guitar) and Prairie Prince (Drums) but has had a large number of replacement members throughout the years. The band released its first album Journey in 1975. Between 1975 and 1987 the group released eleven albums with their biggest success coming from the 1981 album Escape which featured the timeless hit "Don't Stop Believin"; The album has sold nine times platinum. Their other hit albums include Frontiers (No. 2, 1983), Raised on Radio (No. 4, 1986) and Trial By Fire (No. 3, 1996). Their singles, "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" (1983) and "When You Love a Woman" (1996) were each number one hits. In 1987 the group disbanded but reformed in 1995 to tour and continues to record new music. Guitarist Neal Schon (b. 1954) and bassist Ross Valory (b. 1949) still play with the group. Schon has produced six solo albums and collaborated on musical projects with Jan Hammer, Paul Rodgers, Betty Davis, Sammy Hagar and Michael Bolton among others. Valory also played with the musical groups The Vu, The Storm, Frumious Bandersnatch and the Steve Miller Band. Composer and pianist Jonathon Cain (b. 1950) joined Journey in 1980 and began collaborating on Escape. He has released several solo albums including Piano with a View (1995), Namaste (2001), Where I Live (2006) and is still a member of the group with Schon and Valory. Drummer Steve Smith (b. 1954) joined Journey in 1978 and played with the group through 1985, joining again in 1996 to collaborate on the group's comeback album Trial by Fire. Smith was a member of the rock group The Storm with Valory. Fine condition.
