JOYCE RANDOLPH
Joyce Randolph sends an autograph letter about learning to live in peace.
Autograph Letter Signed: "Joyce Randolph", 1p, 8½x11. No place, but likely New York City, 1991 December 1. To "Dear Mr. Fox". In full: "Thank you for your nice letter. You asked: can we ever learn to live in peace? I hope & pray for this to happen. However, world problems seem tremendous nowadays. Also our New York City problems. It sounds like you are working towards a solution. Thank you." Written on blank part of page with photocopied newspaper photograph, b/w, 3x3¼, from the June 23, 1990 "New York Post." Captioned: "Still looking like a Honeymooner, Joyce Randolph (who played 'Trixie' on the show) showed up with hubby Dick Charles at the Museum of Broadcasting's Salute to Television." Joyce Randolph (1925-2024) is best known for her role as Trixie Norton on one of televisions earliest - and most successful -- situation comedies, The Honeymooners (1953-1957). She was paid $250 per week when the series started. The Honeymooners also starred Jackie Gleason as bus driver Ralph Kramden, Audrey Meadows as his wife, Alice, and Art Carney as Trixie's husband, sewer worker Ed Norton, who won three Emmys for his role as the Kramden's friend and neighbor. With Carney's death in 2003, Randolph is the only surviving member of the cast. A former chorus girl and featured performer in Broadway musicals, Randolph had once been cast with Audrey Meadows in a summer stock production of No, No, Nanette, long before The Honeymooners.Fine condition.
