JUDGE JOHN J. SIRICA - TYPED NOTE SIGNED - HFSID 46933
Price: $120.00
JOHN J. SIRICA
Typed note signed by the Watergate judge
Typed Note signed: "John J. Sirica", 6x4. Typed message,
captioned "Autograph", and stating "Best wishes to Jason Toschlog". Judge
John J. Sirica (1904-1992), as Chief Justice of the U.S.
District Court of Washington, D.C., could have turned the Watergate
case over to any of the 15 judges under his supervision, but chose to hear
the case himself, rightly perceiving that there was more to the matter than a
handful of burglars working independently. His instincts were proved right when
he received a letter from defendant James McCord, hinting about involvement
by high public officials. Judge Sirica's handling of the case resulted in
his being named "Man of the Year" by "Time" magazine in 1973.
Sirica's preference for handing down maximum sentences had earlier earned him
the nickname "Maximum John." Slightly toned. Corners slightly worn. Fine
condition.
