JUDGE JOSEPH WAPNER A signed black and white photograph featuring the Judge in front of a sign for his show! Photograph inscribed and signed: "Best Wishes/ Judge/ Wapner". B/w, 8x10. When Judge Joseph Wapner (1919-2017) started The People's Court in 1981 after leaving the California bench, he boasted television's only court program. When the 81-year-old former judge returned to the set in November 2000 to celebrate the show's 3,000 episode, there were ten court shows on the air. Wapner's low-key, affable demeanor was in sharp contrast to the loud judges of today's court shows. Wapner was a trailblazer for television judges like "Judge Judy" Sheindlin, the wife of Jerry Sheindlin, who presided over The People's Court at the time of Judge Wapner's nostalgic visit. Fine condition.
