Autograph note signed: "Very best wishes/to Larry,/Judy
Rankin/'1972'" on verso of 5x3 ruled index card. Name written in ink
(unknown hand) at upper margin. Five years after she signed this autograph,
LPGA tour member Judy Rankin (b. 1945) would earn $150,734, becoming
the first ever LPGA player to win over $100,000 in a single season. In
1976, Rankin also won six tournaments, was named Player of the Year and
won the second of her three Vare Trophies (1973, 1976 and 1977). Rankin,
who played complete seasons on the tour from 1962-1983, had won her first
tournament, the Corpus Christi Open, in 1968. She won 26 tournaments between
1968 and 1979 and was named Player of the Year in 1977, when she had
five victories. Rankin later captained victorious U.S. Solheim Cup teams
in 1996 and 1998 and became a golf commentator for both men's and women's
tournaments. In 2000, she became the first player inducted into the LPGA Tour
Hall of Fame in the Veterans Category and was inducted into the World
Golf Hall of Fame in November of that year. Slightly creased, touching the
