Photograph inscribed and signed: "for Edward/best wishes/Julie Bishop". Sepia, 5x7. Julie Bishop (1914-2001) was a B-movie star under her birth name of Jacqueline Wells, with roles in The Black Cat (the first pairing of Karloff and Lugosi, 1934) and Bohemian Girl (a Laurel and Hardy vehicle, 1936). Moving to Warner Bros., she changed her name and screen image, supplying strong supporting roles, often as the screen wife in action films. She was Humphrey Bogart's wife in Action in the North Atlantic (1943), Robert Alda's wife as Mrs. Ira Gershwin in Rhapsody in Blue (1945), and John Wayne's one night stand in Sands of Iwo Jima (1949). She would appear with Wayne again in The High and the Mighty (1954). She starred with Robert Cummings in the TV series My Hero (1952). Toned. Signature in poor contrast but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
