Parrish had a bit role as a college student in The Nutty Professor in
1963. Parrish (1940-2003), born Ruby Joyce Wilbar, got her first movie
role, in the Jerry Lewis movie It's Only Money (1962), as a beauty
contest prize. Director Frank Tashlin reportedly hadn't approved the beauty
contest, but wrote Parrish into an uncredited role anyway because he felt sorry
for her. Parrish went on to appear in almost 50 movies and TV shows between 1962
and 1998, often as a perky ingenue and pretty sitcom wife in the 1960s and in
more mature parts later in her career. Star Trek fans may recognize
Parrish as Miss Piper from the original series two-parter The Menagerie
(1966). She was also an outspoken activist for battered women and worked as
a full-time counselor at the Haven Hills Shelter for Battered Women in Canoga
Park, California. Lightly toned and creased. Staple holes at top edge. Random
ink stains. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
