Typed Letter signed: "Julius M. Mayer" as Attorney General, 1p, 8x10. New York, N.Y. 1905 November 15. On official letterhead to James S. Lehmaier, New York City. In full: "I beg to enclose herewith, your appointment as Deputy Attorney General. You will please send me the Constitutional oath and I will then send notice of appointment to Albany and have your oath filed in the office of the Secretary of State. Very truly yours". Julius Marshuetz Mayer (1865-1925) was Attorney General of New York (1905-1906), and a state and federal judge, rising to the US Court of Appeals (1921-1934). Horizontal and vertical mailing folds-vertical creases stained and creased irregularly.
