JUST YOU AND ME, KID MOVIE CAST: GEORGE BURNS and BROOKE SHIELDS
George Burns and Brooke Shields sign a black and white publicity photograph from their film Just You and Me, Kid
Photograph signed: "George Burns" and "Brooke Shields/XX". B/w, 10x8. Movie still from the film Just You and Me, Kid, ©1979, Columbia Pictures Industries. In Just You and Me, Kid, an elderly ex-vaudevillian (George BURNS) is surprised to find a naked young woman (Brooke SHIELDS) in the trunk of his car. He soon discovers that she is a runaway fleeing from both the police and an enraged drug dealer she cheated out of $20,000. Shields became a bona fide star when French director Louis Malle cast her as a 12-year-old New Orleans prostitute who becomes the romantic obsession of a much older painter in Pretty Baby (1978). Through her teens, Shields was among the world's top fashion models. Her best-known film is the so-bad-it's-good The Blue Lagoon (1980) in which she and a teenage hunk find themselves shipwrecked for years on a desert island. Shields decided it was time for college and enrolled in Princeton, where she graduated with honors. In 1996, she was given her own situation comedy on NBC network's Suddenly Susan, proving to be a competent, charismatic comedy actress. George Burns, the star of vaudeville, radio, television and motion pictures, died in 1996 at the age of 100. He co-starred with his wife Gracie Allen until her retirement in 1958(she died in 1964), then continued performing in television, theater and nightclubs as a solo act. When he returned to films in 1975 after a 30-year hiatus, Burns won the 1975 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (The Sunshine Boys). He later starred in the title role in Oh, God (1977) and appeared in Going in Style (1979) and 18 Again! (1988). The comedian, who was honored in television specials celebrating his 90th and 95th birthdays, also wrote Gracie, A Love Story (1988) and 100 Years, 100 Stories (1996). Fine condition.
