The beautiful actress is shown lying down in this black and white 4x5 photograph, signed in blue felt tip
Photograph Signed: "Karin Booth" in blue felt tip. 4x5. B/w. The year 1947 was a breakthrough year for Karin Booth (1916-2003), born Jane Hoffman and billed as Katharine Booth in her early films (from 1941). During World War II, she had played mostly bit parts, some un-credited. In 1947 she co-starred in The Unfinished Dance, as a talented young ballerina injured by a jealous student (Margaret O'Brien) so that a rival dancer (Cyd Charisse) can get the lead role in a performance. She was always credited in subsequent films, through her final one (Beloved Infidel, 1959), and made frequent TV guest appearances in the 1950s (including Alfred Hitchcock and Perry Mason). The Motion Picture Relief Fund was founded in 1921 to assist ill and needy film industry veterans, as expressed in its motto: "We take care of our own." The fund raised money through voluntary payroll deductions and celebrity events. Trimmed corners. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
