KARL MALDEN $30.00 check signed by the Oscar-winning acto, dated 1958 Check Signed: "Karl Malden", 6¼x2¾ with perforated left edge. New York City, New York, 1958 September 3. Check no. 38 for $30, payable to Soniah Vincent and drawn from Malden's account at the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City. In 1947, actor Karl Malden, (1912-2009), created the role of Mitch, the erstwhile beau of Blanche Dubois, in Tennessee Williams' Broadway play A Streetcar Named Desire; he repeated the role in the 1951 film version, winning an Oscar in the process. Malden was also nominated for an Oscar for his performance in On the Waterfront (1954). Malden was best known to TV fans of the 1970s as Lieutenant Mike Stone, the no-nonsense protagonist of the long-running cop series The Streets of San Francisco (1972-1977). During that time, he mentored a young actor named Michael Douglas, who played Inspector Steve Keller from 1972-1976. Lightly toned and creased. Pen skipped and dribbled while writing signature and handwriting, which are legible. Normal bank stamps and cancellation holes, which touch signature and handwriting. Red pencil notation goes through signature. Folded once and unfolded. Otherwise, fine condition.
