Small slip of paper signed by children's book illustrator and author Kate Greenaway in 1895
Signature: "Kate. Greenaway/November./1895". 3¼x1¾. Greenaway (1946-1901) was a popular British children's book illustrator and writer. As an artist, she is known for her idyllic pastoral scenes with very young children in late 18th Century and Regency clothes. She was one of three children's book illustrators who worked with printer Edmund Evans, one of the first to use color illustrations in books. Evans printed her first book, Under the Window, in 1879, which became a best seller. The Kate Greenaway Medal, an award for illustration in children's literature, was founded in her honor in 1955. Irregular edges. Mounting remnants on verso (no show-through). Otherwise in fine condition.
