Signature: "Yours Sincerely./Kate Tannatt Woods", 5x1 slip, closely
cropped from a letter, affixed to 10½x8 sheet, to which a book illustration of
Woods (b/w, 2½x3) to left of signature. Kate Tannatt Woods (1836-1910) was a
journalist, and author of fiction - including but not limited to children's
stories, travelogues and other nonfiction. She was founder of the Thought and
Work Club of Salem, Massachusetts, a women's club which encouraged literary
endeavors and general intellectual discussion. 1½-inch paper loss at upper right
corner. Other minor edge tears. Two one-fourth inch tears along. Pencil caption
(unknown hand) in lower left corner. Otherwise, fine
condition.
