Autograph letter signed: "Katherine Cecil Thurston" in black ink. 2 pages integral leaf, 4½x7¼ folded. West Kensington, London, England. March 27, no year. In full: "Dear Sir, I thank you very much for your letter of the 24th, but regret that I must refuse you the interview you so kindly ask for - I am not granting interviews to anybody at present. I remain, dear sir, Yours truly". Katherine Cecil Thurston (1875-1911) was an Irish novelist who began he career as a contributing author for various British publications such as Pall Mall Magazine, Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine, Harper's, Windsor Magazine, and many others. Later, her novels became extremely successful in Britain as well as the United States, most notably John Chilcote, M.P. (1904), as well as other thrillers The Gambler (1905) and "Max" (1910). John Chilcote, M.P. was adapted to the stage by John Hunter Booth and opened on Broadway in 1917, and was made into a motion picture four times. After years of suffering from epilepsy, Thurston died tragically at the age of thirty six. Normal mailing folds. Toned. Creased throughout. Small ink stains throughout. Corners rounded.
