Short Poem in Color", originally written in 1965. American author Kay Boyle
(1902-1992) lived most of her young adult life among avant-garde writers in
Europe, returning to the US after World War II. She wrote 40 books, including
14 novels, 8 poetry collections, 11 volumes of short fiction, and many
translations and essays. Blacklisting during the McCarthy era took away much
of her employment at The New Yorker and other US periodicals. Boyle was
politically active for civil rights, and against nuclear weapons and the
war in Vietnam. She won two O. Henry Awards for short fiction, two Guggenheim
Fellowships, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Endowment for
the Arts. Creased from folds. Fine condition.
