KAY KENDALL
The actress signs her name in blue ink.
Signature: "Kay Kendall", in blue ink, 6½x5. Beautiful Anglo-American Star Kay Kendall: Theatre Royal D.L. London. British actress Kay Kendall (1926-1959) was a blossoming film and theatre star until her life was tragically cut short by myeloid leukemia. In film from the mid-1940s, she reached stardom in films like Genevieve (1953) and Les Girls (1957), winning a Golden Globe as Best Actress for the latter. Reportedly involved romantically with several well-known men, including the future royal consort Prince Phillip. In 1955 she met Rex Harrison while filming The Constant Husband (1955). Harrison, who learned Kendall had a terminal illness - Kendall herself never knew - got the consent of his wife Lilli Palmer to divorce her and marry Kendall. In 1958 she became the replacement Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, co-starring with Harrison, who would care for her lovingly until her death. She died at age 33, shortly after co-starring with Yul Brynner in Once More With Feeling (1960). Hand decorated. Left edge worn. Fine condition.
