Autograph note signed "Kay & Morey/AMSTERDAM" in blue ink. 5½x3¼ color post card from Atlantic City, New Jersey. Claridge Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey, "Will be here till Dec. 10th", postmarked South Jersey, New Jersey, Nov. 9, 1981. Addressed in Kay's hand to Phyllis Diller, Los Angeles, California. Two American stamps affixed. In full: "This place is great - if you like Pop Corn & Pizza with Taffy apple for breakfast! Hope you're well. We are ! Love". PHYLLISDILLER, born Phyllis Ada Driver in Lima, Ohio in 1917, is known for her outrageous appearance, zany outfits, distinctive laugh and a stand-up act that featured frequent references to her fictional husband "Fang" and zingers about her sex appeal and numerous plastic surgeries. KAY PATRICK AMSTERDAM was married to Emmy-nominated actor and comedian Morey Amsterdam from 1942 until his death. They had two children. MOREY AMSTERDAM (1908-1996), born in Chicago, Illinois, was a comedian and actor best known for his role as Buddy Sorrell on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966), which earned him an Emmy nomination in 1966. A vaudeville veteran who had earlier starred on radio and television and in films, he gained a new generation of fans with his villainous role on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless while he was in his 80s. Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Signature and body of letter are slightly shaky but legible. Normal postal stamps, which touch body of letter but not signature. Lightly worn corners with light creasing in left corners. Image is lightly scratched (not visible head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
