Golden Globe-nominated singer and actress Kaye Stevens signed this letter, typed on one of her personalized postcards in 1994, to fellow comedienne Phyllis Diller about an upcoming appearance on the Hour of Power.
Typed letter signed: "With Agapé,/Kathryn". 1 page, 6x4 card. Postcard with orange border and imprinted "Kaye Stevens". Addressed by Stevens to "Phyllis Diller, 163 So. Rockingham, Los Angeles, Cal. 90049". Postmarked South Florida MPC, Florida, Oct. 5, 1994. One color 19-cent baby deer stamp affixed. At right margin of address, Stevens drew an arrow to "Rockingham" and written "A 'busy' street.". On message side, Stevens wrote "Phyllis" above typed greeting. In full: " Hi Friend, Will miracles never cease?! Dr. Robert Schuller, pastor of the 'Crystal Cathedral' in Garden Grove, California has asked me to sing and be interviewed on his 'Hour of Power' T.V. show to be aired on Sunday, October 23rd! Comedienne PHYLLIS DILLER born Phyllis Ada Driver in 1917, is known for her outrageous appearance, zany outfits, distinctive laugh and a stand-up act that featured frequent references to her fictional husband, "Fang", and zingers about her sex appeal and numerous plastic surgeries. Brassy, redheaded singer, actress and comedienne KAYE STEVENS, born Catherine Stephens (1932-2011), was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for the 1962 film The Interns. She also appeared in Jaws 3-D (1983) and in several other feature films and television movies. Her television credits include a regular role as Jeri Clayton on Days of Our Lives (1974-1979) as well as guest appearances on TV series from Toast of the Town (1962) to Superboy (1990). Stevens, who was known for her elbow-length gloves, showcased her fine comedic and singing talents in her 1962 album (Not So) Great Songs (Which Were Left Out of) Great Movies (For Obvious Reasons). Lightly toned. Normal postal marks, which touch body of letter and some autograph notations and address but not signatures. Address and "Phyllis" have bled lightly in places but are legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
